‘The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society’
International best-selling novel The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society captured the hearts of readers worldwide. Now, thanks to the major feature film released last year, more and more of us are curious about the island that inspired the novel. On this tour you can discover the Occupation story and find out how the islanders lived under German rule and rebuilt their lives following the Liberation. Visit locations that appear in the novel and feel as if you are stepping through the pages of the book itself.
Our tours can be amended and tailored to your own requirements and is available for groups and FIT who wish to travel on an independent basis. You may also wish to consider combining this with a visit to Jersey, by taking the Condor Lines fast ferry between the two Islands, and we will be delighted to add a Jersey stay to the itinerary.

Suggested itinerary
Day 1
Travel to Guernsey
Make your way to Guernsey – we would usually suggest flying from Gatwick with Aurigny Air. On arrival in Guernsey you’ll be met by either a taxi or a coach for the transfer to your hotel (depending on number of people travelling).
We can arrange flights to/from Guernsey from London or a variety of other UK departure points – please contact us for details and prices.
Travel is also possible by sea from Poole (Dorset – Southern England) with Condor Ferries.
Day 2
Guernsey Island Tour
Discover why Juliet fell in love with Guernsey and walk in the characters’ footsteps on this full day island tour. We will see so much of what Guernsey has to offer including quaint little villages and stunning beaches. The commentary on the tour will cover the history of the German occupation and highlight some of the locations that feature in the novel and inspired scenes in the film.
You will be collected at your hotel for this tour after breakfast. Return to your hotel late afternoon.
Day 3
Sark with Two-Hour Carriage Ride
A trip to Sark is a must for anyone visiting Guernsey. The Island’s natural beauty is its best asset and from its Jurassic cliffs to its secluded bays and unparalleled views, there is a lot to see. With no cars on Sark, the best way to see the island is by horse and carriage on a two-hour tour of the island. The day includes the return ferry from Guernsey and a tractor-ride transfer from the harbour.
We will include transfers between the hotel and the port, and there is also the option of taking a private guide with you in order to really make the most of your day.
Day 4
St Peter Port Walking Tour and Sausmarez Manor
We embark upon a walking tour of St Peter Port where Juliet first arrived in Guernsey by mailboat. In the book Juliet describes the harbour as “one of the most beautiful in the world”. Our walking tour includes history of the evacuation, occupation, and liberation of Guernsey. Next we have a tour of the Sausmarex Manor. The Seigneur himself is our guide and he will read exerts from his Great Aunt’s diaries, giving graphic firsthand accounts of life during the Occupation. Here we will taste a real potato pie and enjoy a glass of non-occupational wine.
Your guide will meet you at the hotel for this tour.
Day 5
Depart Guernsey or extend your stay
You may have some free time for some last minute purchases, before the transfer to the airport.
Alternatively you may wish to extend your stay on Guernsey, or travel to Jersey for another visit, in which case, we can arrange a transfer to the Port for the crossing to the island of Jersey.

Our prices are based on bed & breakfast in the hotel, leaving you the chance to eat out at some fabulous restaurants. It may also be possible for us to prebook dinner in the hotel – details and prices on request.
This tour is available for FIT & Groups
For individual travellers, airport and port transfers, will usually be by private car or taxi. Excursions and tours will be with shared transport in a coach for groups or minimum 10 persons, a coach or mini coach will be provided for exclusive use of the group.
Please be aware that if you are travelling as an individual (less than 10 persons) then this tour will usually be unescorted.
Our prices are based on bed & breakfast in the hotel allowing you the flexibility to eat as you wish and experience the great cuisine the Islands offer. Dinner in the hotels can be arranged and supplements will be quoted on request.
